Terrorism is a constant threat at airports, and AS&E offers solutions for screening people, baggage, air cargo, and delivery vehicles to keep air travel safe. Our combination of advanced technologies, including Z Backscatter™ and dual-energy transmission, are capable of detecting metal and plastic weapons, and explosives.
Baggage Screening
The Gemini systems' multi-technology capability can detect both metallic and organic threats, providing airport security officials with the ability to detect explosives and weapons. Additionally, Z Backscatter technology produces photo-like images that are easy to interpret, facilitating the operator's analysis time to efficiently move cleared passengers and their luggage to their flights.

Passenger Screening
Our SmartCheck® personnel inspection system provides highly effective, safe and non-invasive personnel screening for threats and contraband. Its capability goes well beyond that of metal detectors because it simultaneously detects both metallic and non-metallic objects, such as guns and knives, plastic and liquid explosives, composite weapons, drugs and other hidden threats and contraband. Its privacy image gives the operator an easy-to-read display of where the threat or contraband is hidden, while protecting the privacy of the screened individual. The SmartCheck system is safe for all individuals and complies with all applicable U.S. personnel scanning regulations.
Air Cargo
AS&E’s Gemini parcel systems are on TSA’s Qualified Technology List (QTL). Inclusion on the QTL allows certified air cargo facilities to purchase systems directly from AS&E to inspect air cargo before being loaded onto passenger planes. The Z Backscatter™ Van (ZBV) system is ideal for screening air cargo containers and oversized or oddly-shaped air cargo for explosives and contraband.
Vehicle Screening
Security at airports goes beyond the checkpoint, and extends to keeping the entire facility secure. AS&E offers X-ray detection equipment for screening delivery vehicles to prevent explosives and contraband from entering airport grounds.
