- Exceptionally high-throughput of up to 150 trucks per hour.
- Uses a high-energy X-ray source for high penetration and unsurpassed image quality to detect contraband and weapons.
- A low radiation dose makes the system extremely safe for drivers, operators and cargo
The revolutionary Sentry Portal is a high-throughput, high-penetration, drive-through inspection system. It delivers a reliable means of detecting threatening materials, weapons, and contraband hidden in cargo containers, tankers, and large vehicles while maintaining the flow of commerce.
Using a high-energy transmission X-ray source, the Sentry Portal provides high-penetration into inspected objects - up to 300 mm (12 inches) of steel, unsurpassed image quality, with a throughput of up to 150 trucks per hour. Sentry Portal offers a means of scanning a very high percentage of containers at high volume seaports, border crossings, and security checkpoints. The system features a compact footprint allowing for installation in areas with space constraints.
For enhanced detection, the system can be easily integrated with radiation detection and container identification systems. Further, Sentry Portal can be combined with our multi-view Z Portal® system to create a Z Sentry, which uses Z Backscatter™ technology, empowering operators with multi-view capability and material discrimination for detecting well-hidden, organic contraband.
TECHNOLOGY
The technology behind the Sentry Portal relies on a high-energy X-ray source, allowing the beam to deeply penetrate dense objects, while minimizing the amount of scattered radiation. Employing technology to avoid scanning the cab, a robust container-locating sub-system ensures safe drive-through operation, so that the driver is never exposed to high energy X-rays. The sub-system "informs" the X-ray source when the leading edge of the container reaches the beam plane — after the cab with the driver has passed — and in milliseconds, the X-ray beam is switched on. The safety of the drivers and operators is maintained with a robust safety system and very low ambient radiation dose. Extremely safe for operators and cargo alike, Sentry Portal falls well below the radiation safety requirements of NCRP/ICRP.
Z SENTRY
For maximum detection capability, the Sentry Portal can be combined with AS&E’s multi-view Z Portal screening system with Z Backscatter technology. The addition of Z Backscatter creates a multi-view, multi-technology system offering unparalleled detection capability.
The high-performance portal utilizes both high energy transmission X-rays as well as multi-view Z Backscatter in a high throughput configuration. The system is designed to reliably detect threatening materials, weapons, and contraband hidden in cargo containers, tankers, and large vehicles while maintaining the flow of commerce.
With the combination of high-energy transmission and Z Backscatter™ X-ray imaging technologies, the Z Sentry Portal system offers four views of scanned cargo to improve detection and offer a more comprehensive look at cargo and large vehicles. Ideal for high volume seaports, border crossings, and security checkpoints, the Z Sentry Portal offers both high-throughput and high-penetration into inspected. With Z Backscatter imaging, the system also offers left, right, and top-down photo-like views to detect well-hidden, organic contraband that other systems miss — including plastic explosives, drugs and other organic contraband. Z Backscatter technology’s extremely low radiation dose is safe for drive-through operations and can scan the entire vehicle including the cab and driver. The Z Sentry Portal system improves detection and offers more comprehensive views of the scanned object by allowing a complete scan of the vehicle.
The safety of the drivers and operators is maintained with a robust safety system and very low ambient radiation dose. Extremely safe for operators and cargo alike, Z Sentry Portal falls well below the radiation safety requirements of NCRP/ICRP.
