Technology
  • All of our systems utilize Z® Backscatter technology, revealing the threats competitive systems miss – explosives, plastic weapons, and drugs.
  • AS&E systems are safe and effective.
  • Superior, proprietary technologies combine to create the most comprehensive inspection systems in the marketplace.
  • Customizable system configurations – mobile, relocatable, and fixed-site

According to a recent article from the Health Physics Society, "At this time, no other technologies ...offer the same security benefits of backscatter x-ray security scans...The risk to any individual from frequent backscatter x-ray scans is truly trivial."

AS&E's history of technological innovation in the field of X-rays goes back more than 40 years. Today, AS&E continues to innovate with the development of the most advanced technologies available in X-ray inspection systems. Our proprietary technology is what gives AS&E products the capabilities you simply can't find in other X-ray inspection systems.

Patented Z® Backscatter technology provides photo-like images that reveal organic threats and contraband, including explosives, plastic weapons and drugs. Transmission X-rays, a traditional detection technology, is added to our products for penetration and detection of inorganic contraband. Dual-energy transmission provides excellent image resolution as well as additional image analysis capabilities and some degree of material discrimination. Shaped Energy™ technology, our high-energy X-ray solution, provides even more penetration for the inspection of dense sea containers and other objects, without employing a radioactive source -- preserving safety and functionality. Finally, Radioactive Threat Detection technology helps locate dirty bombs and nuclear devices, in addition to conventional threats during X-ray screening.
