Classes for ParcelSearch Systems

Image Analysis (IA) Training

Available for all AS&E Parcel Systems

Image Analysis Training is a two-day class providing classroom detection strategy and theory, as well as practical hands-on and application testing. The objective of this course is to train operators on the detection of potentially dangerous threats utilizing AS&E systems. This class includes detection techniques for such threats as military explosives (e.g., C4, Semtex, Detcord, Dynamite); civilian and homemade threats (pipe bombs, incendiary devices), and other common threats such as guns and knives.

The course includes both classroom and field training. Upon successful completion of this course, each student will be certified as an Image Analyst. The course instructor will provide presentation material using an LCD projector, and a variety of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) and components. To participate in Image Analysis Training, students should have some experience operating AS&E equipment, but prior experience is not required.

Class size: 6
Location: On-site or AS&E Headquarters (Billerica, Massachusetts USA)

Image Analysis Instructor Training

Image Analysis Instructor Training is a three-day course designed to provide your staff with certified instructors to effectively and conveniently train new AS&E X-ray Image Analysts. Each student receives Image Analysis training, as well as a session to equip him or her with basic instructor skills to deliver the class content. Students will receive all necessary materials in order to perform the training on their own, including an instructor's guide, manuals, and presentations. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will be well equipped to perform Image Analysis training and certify operators as Image Analysts on the ParcelSearch systems. To participate in Image Analysis Instructor Training, students should have some experience operating AS&E equipment; prior teaching experience is also recommended.

Service & Maintenance Training

Model 66Z, 66ZPLUS and Model 101 series (101 and 66 type must be specified by customer)

Service & Maintenance Training is a two-week course intended for customers that have the resources and ability to service their own equipment. This course combines classroom theory and hands-on instruction to effectively educate individuals on the safe and proper methods of repair and maintenance of AS&E systems. Upon successful completion of this course, each student will be factory certified. This allows individuals the opportunity to service AS&E equipment without voiding any warranties or guarantees.

Class content includes, but is not limited to, X-ray theory and safety, system operation and basic image analysis, theory of operation of all control and power systems, signal tracing of certain circuits, component removal and replacement of field replaceable units, mechanical and electrical alignments and adjustments, as well as preventative maintenance.

Students attending a Service and Maintenance Training session must have electrical and electronics experience, be familiar with DVMs, oscilloscopes and standard hand tools, be able to read electrical schematics and interconnect diagrams, and must be able to kneel and lift at least 20 pounds.

Image Analysis (IA) Training

This 10-day certificate course provides classroom detection strategy and theory, as well as practical hands-on and application testing through the analysis of X-ray images. The instructor provides lectures and presentations, as well as a variety of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices). Upon successful completion of this course, each student will be certified to operate the system as an Image Analyst. Classroom training allows students to operate the X-ray system, properly positioning vehicles and cargo to ensure optimal throughput time with the best detection imaging. In addition, students will have the opportunity to utilize image analysis tools to detect threats and safely remove them from the X-ray system, or initiate proper operating procedures.

Hands-on Training includes learning safety and scanning procedures, image familiarization, identification of certain objects, and image manipulation. Additionally, students will be educated on detection techniques for such threats as military explosives (e.g., C4, Semtex, Dynamite, Detcord); civilian and homemade threats (e.g., pipe bombs, incendiary devices, weapons); and radioactive devices if your system is equipped with Radiation Threat Detection (e.g., nuclear weapons and dirty bombs).
