With our customers in mind, AS&E offers upgrades on all products, so that systems already deployed in the field can grow with the technology. Following are current upgrade offerings for CargoSearch™ and ParcelSearch™ systems:

For AS&E CargoSearch™ Systems

Windows NT/PLC (including ASEInspection™ Software)

The Windows NT/PLC and ASEInspection Software upgrade includes changes in hardware, electronics, and software. The upgrade will migrate a MobileSearch™ system from a DOS-supported configuration to a Windows NT-based operating system platform. The Input/Output Control Module (IOCM) is also replaced with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).

The NT/PLC upgrade includes the latest release of ASEInspection, AS&E's Windows NT-based custom coded C++ object-oriented applications software used in all AS&E cargo systems. ASEInspection provides operators with a familiar and intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) to control the system with the click of a mouse.

Radioactive Threat Detection (RTD)

Upgrade or option available for MobileSearch and Z® Backscatter Van™
This upgrade incorporates the ability to detect neutrons and gamma rays typically associated with nuclear devices and dirty bombs. MobileSearch hardware, electronics, and software system modifications are required for the neutron and gamma ray detection capabilities.

Note: As a prerequisite to the Radioactive Threat Detection upgrade, the system must be running at the NT/PLC operating platform and running ASEInspection software.

For AS&E ParcelSearch™ Systems

Edge Enhancement

Edge Enhancement is a computer-based algorithm used to accentuate the edges of objects in the X-ray image, helping the operator to recognize anomalies faster and more readily.

Density Expand

Density Expand allows the operator to adjust the contrast of the displayed image, thus enhancing differences in objects that may initially appear similar.

Interlaced to Non-Interlaced

This upgrade manages the transition from interlaced monitors and non-production electronics on older systems, to the non-interlaced computer monitors and enhanced electronics available on new systems.

Ball Tables

These tables for the Model 101XL™ allow operators to move pallets on and off the conveyor easily, for added efficiency.

Roller Tables

These tables for the Model 101 and 66 series allow for easy loading and unloading of items to be inspected.
